What's the point of a Containment?

SERVPRO® of Newport News is asked many times why placing a Containment is important and if it's really necessary.  Well the answer is Yes! Containments are very important and can play a huge role in Fire, Water and Mold Damage Restoration Losses.   

A Containment is placed to control the environment, minimize the work space and/or to keep something that can potentially be harmful under control and to avoid cross contamination.  In most cases Containments are placed to block the affected areas from the unaffected areas which stops the spread of any further contamination.  

Containment's are placed by using thick plastic sheeting with the assistance of tension/support poles or wooden frames and strong tape. The Containment's are usually placed around doors, openings, stairwells or even to divide rooms. 

It is recommended that no one enters through the Containments once set up and in place!
